The Smallholder Farmers’ Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawi origin to fill the position of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Manager (Grade F3) Tenable at Its Head Office in Blantyre. The ICT Manager will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

JOB TITLE: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

Department : Information and Communication Technology Division
Grade: F3
Reporting to : The Chief Executive Officer
Responsible for : Information and Communication Technology Officer : Assistant ICT Officers

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide strategic direction and advice in the management of Information and Communication Technology in the organization.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties

  • Planning and organizing: Developing and directing strategies, policies, and plans for information and communication technology (ICT)
  • Managing systems: Overseeing the acquisition, development, maintenance, and use of ICT systems
  • Leading teams: Providing leadership, supervision, and a safe work environment for the ICT team
  • Securing systems: Implementing security measures for computer or information systems
  • Analyzing data: Analyzing operational data to evaluate processes and identify issues
  • Developing procedures: Developing data analysis or data management procedures
  • Installing hardware and software: Installing and configuring new hardware and software systems
    Maintaining documentation: Maintaining network and server documentation
  • Communicating incidents: Proactively detecting and communicating incidents or performance
    concerns
  • Mentoring: Coaching and mentoring other members of the ICT team
  • Adoption of best practices: Advise on best ICT practices and support Management and teams to implement them within the organization.
  • ICT Innovations: Championing innovative approaches in improving operational systems and processes.
  • Procurement: Developing user specifications for IT infrastructure, ICT equipment, and systems during procurements
  • Troubleshooting: system and network problems and rectifying faults
  • Providing end user support and training
  • System documentation: Documenting configuration of the systems, setting up of user accounts, configuration and repair
  • Reporting: Preparing periodic reports on ICT operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or any computer related field, from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any related field obtained from a NCHE accredited university.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in IT or a related field, five (5) of which are at managerial level.
  • Working knowledge of computer programming, networking and software development.

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team with leadership skills for coaching and developing employees.
  • Mature with good leadership skills to manage a team and drive results.
