Job Purpose
The Maintenance Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, planning and reporting of project activities and ensure quality delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the Maintenance Project. This includes ensuring expenditure is in line with the budget and implementation is on track to meet expected targets, plus managing the project team and other resources available to the project. S/he will be responsible for creating and nurturing a team that will successfully implement the project. S/he will line manage Maintenance Facilitators and a driver.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide day to day project management and coordination oversight for the Maintenance Project in close collaboration with the District Water Office, Area Mechanics and Community Water Points Committees
- Ensure effective project budgetary control and monitoring is in line with SHA’s financial procedures and guidelines, and fraud and risk management policies.
- Work with accounts department in budget monitoring to ensure relevance, effectiveness, efficiency in outputs versus outputs.
- Provide specialised advice and specific skills to teams, especially related to Water supply including Operation and Maintenance ensuring effective and efficient delivery of project results.
- Ensure close collaboration and networking with all district partners, including government, WASH NGOs and communities and in liaison with other Self-Help Africa projects during all stages of project implementation.
- Strengthen the District Water Office capacities to collect, process and analyse data on the field situation for decision making and reporting
- Strengthen the capacity of District Water Office to manage maintenance network in order to maintain functionality rates of hand pumps
- Prepare and submit weekly updates, monthly and quarterly technical and financial reports to the Project Manager.
- Work hand in hand with MEAL Officer to ensure compliance in project data and reporting requirements.
- Lead documentation of pilot lessons and experiences throughout the pilot period
- Ensure safeguarding issues are implemented and reported during project delivery
Minimum Requirements
- At least BSc Degree in Engineering, Water Resources Management, Public Health, Environmental Health
- At least 3 years relevant experience in coordinating and managing WASH Projects
- Strong character traits, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity and integrity;
- Good computer skills including MS Word, Excel and internet;
- Experience in budget preparation. Management and donor report writing
- Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding risks and mitigating actions.
