
Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA)
Introduction
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act, 1998 to regulate the provision of services in the communications sector of Malawi, comprising telecommunications, posts and broadcasting.
Currently, under the Communications Act, 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable, and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi and are sufficient to meet the demand for such services in accordance with the principles of transparency, certainty, market orientation, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction. The Vision of MACRA is to create a universal access and usage of ICT services in Malawi to facilitate the development of the ICT Sector through efficient and effective regulation and research.
Projects Manager (MA4)
Job Purpose
To take charge of ensuring that projects teams complete all projects on time and within the budget. The job holder will be reporting directly to The Head of Human Resources and Administration.
Duties:
- Assists in developing and executing the Authority’s projects;
- Participates in awareness campaigns associated with specific projects;
- Provides advice to the head of the department on actions that need to be taken to address projects non- performance
- Determines the resources and participants required to achieve project goals;
- Assists in planning and scheduling project timelines and miles stones to achieve efficient projects execution and management;
- Prepares and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirement requirements documentation, and presentations;
- Assists in projects evaluation, implementation and submits reports to management;
- Participates in the selection and supervision of various consultants and contractors to support projects implementation;
- Develops a detailed project plan and monitors progress;
- Collaborates with internal teams to design, develop and implement the Authority’s projects;
- Develops support documents including risk logs and requirements specifications;
- Monitors and reports on progress of projects;
- Communicates with teams and ensures all members are on board with delegated tasks;
- Highlights potential risks or malfunction and acts on them;
- Seeks opportunities for improvement and suggests new projects;
- Delivers Projects on time ensuring quality and standards are met;
- Coordinates internal resources and third-party vendors for flawless execution of the projects;
- Ensures that all projects are delivered on time within scopes and objectives;
- Involves all relevant projects stakeholders and ensures technical feasibility;
- Coordinates people and processes to ensure that the projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results;
- Ensures goes to people for everything involving a project’s organization and timelines;
- Any other duties relevant to the position.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Project Management or Quantity Surveying
- Minimum of five (5) years work experience in projects management
