
Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA)
Introduction
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act, 1998 to regulate the provision of services in the communications sector of Malawi, comprising telecommunications, posts and broadcasting.
Currently, under the Communications Act, 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable, and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi and are sufficient to meet the demand for such services in accordance with the principles of transparency, certainty, market orientation, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction. The Vision of MACRA is to create a universal access and usage of ICT services in Malawi to facilitate the development of the ICT Sector through efficient and effective regulation and research.
Postal Regulations Officer (MA6)
Job Purpose
To create and enhance an enabling environment for the continuous growth of Postal and Courier Services in Malawi.
Duties:
- Monitoring licensees’ performance and compliance with their licenses’ terms and conditions.
- Monitoring quality of service for the Public Postal Operator through Global monitoring system.
- Inspect courier operators’ premises and services to determine compliance with license terms and conditions.
- Undertaking performance audits of the Public Postal Operator and all Private Courier operators.
- Undertakes inspections of premises and facilities of prospective operators for licensing purposes.
- Develops programs for monitoring postal services to ensure adherence to licensing conditions
- Carries out inspections to identify illegal courier operators and investigates cases of illegal operators
- Maintain liaison with licensed operators to understand their problems and recommend possible solutions
- Assist in the implementation of postal projects
- Coordinating the annual commemorating days.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following areas: Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Technology.
- Minimum of two (2) years work experience.
