LifeCo Asset Management Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to take on the position of Investment and Research Officer tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre.
Reporting to the Investment Manager, the successful candidate will play a critical role in assisting the Investment Manager in handling client portfolios, coordinating the operations in the company, assist in growing the company’s funds under management, and providing key insights to the investment strategy for the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the position will among others include the following:
- Ensure compliance with individual client investment mandates/agreements, maintain sound business practices and adherence to the Financial Services Act 2010, the Securities Act 2010, and all other enacted Financial Services Directives, in the carrying out of duties.
- Professional handling of complete client onboarding.
- Engaging with clients and managing counterparty and market investments in line with regulations as well as firm policies and strategy.
- Maintaining client and investment records on a daily basis, as well as all reconciliations.
- Handling all aspects of client investment reporting and client instructions
- Tracking all key market statistics.
- Maintenance of a client’s complaints register, detailing the reason for complaint and resolution taken to resolve the complaint.
- Forecasting financial trends, ratio analysis & cost benefit analysis
- Ensuring external & internal audit queries are addressed accordingly
- Collecting, interpreting and reviewing investment market information
- Preparing Board, Finance and Audit Committee packs.
- Producing regular Investment Reports to investors and Trustees
- Producing regular investment reports to investors and Trustees
- Report and Respond to Report and Respond to Investments, Capital Management Solvency and Asset/Liability requirements
- Working with team members in instituting and monitoring systems of internal controls in the company
Competencies
- Highly disciplined and able to execute duties with minimum or no supervision
- Ability to meet deadlines and targets in a high-pressure setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Good communication skills and able to handle clients
Desired Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance. Those working towards a CFA will have an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in the investment management industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where you are expected to balance multiple commitments
- Financial analysis experience
