MINISTRY OF WATER AND SANITATION

Post: : Senior Sanitation Officer (ADO) (Grade H)
Salary: Within the Grade H salary scale segment
Location : Department of Water Supply

Qualifications

Applicants should be in possession a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Water), obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

  1. Preparing designs for waterborne sanitation systems in alignment with national policies manuals and guidelines;
  2. Conducting site-detailed design, planning and construction of waterborne sanitation infrastructure;
  3. Reviewing of designs prepared by consultants;
  4. Providing direct labour supervision for the construction and maintenance of waterborne infrastructure, throughout the country;
  5. Preparing work plans and budget for waterborne sanitation Section;
  6. Preparing monthly and other reports for the Section;
  7. Undertaking environmental and social impact assessment for waterborne sanitation programme;
  8. Managing information within the sector regarding waterborne sanitation;
  9. Conducting an inventory of waterborne sanitation facilities

Post: Sanitation Officer (ADO) (Grade I)

Location: Department of Water Supply

Qualifications

Applicants should be in possession of a degree in either Environmental Health / Public Health or Sanitation, obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

  1. Organizing and Coordinating of sanitation and hygiene services;
  2. Facilitating planning, designing, implementation and supervision of sanitation and hygiene activities;
  3. Coordinating and collaborating with all stakeholders on sanitation and hygiene;
  4. Coordinating technical implementation of sanitation and hygiene activities in the directorate;
  5. Interpreting policies on sanitation and hygiene to other government agencies and partners;
  6. Participating in sanitation and hygiene technical meetings.
  7. Conducting sanitation and hygiene promotion and awareness activities
  8. Mobilizing and engaging communities and community structures on sanitation and Hygiene
  9. Conducting inspections and enforcement of sanitation and hygiene
  10. Conducting staff appraisals and trainings
  11. Participating in investigation of sanitation issues and disease outbreaks.
  12. Consolidating data and submitting reports
  13. Participating in disaster preparedness, response and recovery activities
  14. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of sanitation services

Post: Water Monitoring Officer (Grade I)
Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Department of Water Supply

Qualifications

Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in either Water Resource Management or Environmental Science obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

  1. Monitoring and evaluation of operation and maintenance of water points
  2. Monitoring water allocations, flow gauging and performance of water points;
  3. Investigating and identifying water resources and advise the District Assemblies on site to erect well, boreholes or taps;
  4. Development and implementation of sustainable water allocations required for district;
  5. Liaising with relevant authorities on water quality monitoring programmes in the districts;
  6. Analyzing water, Sanitation and hygiene issues and data collection;
  7. Development and implementation Training plan for Community based Management;
  8. Reviewing training manuals for Community Based Management;
  9. Compiling water, sanitation and hygiene reports;
  10. Coordinating the dissemination of gender hygiene, sanitation and HIV/AIDS messages in water programme;
  11. Facilitating the sensitization and mobilization of communities in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of water and sanitation activities;
  12. Preparing budget for funding for water sanitation projects.

Post: Draughting Officer (Grade K)
Salary: Within the Grade K salary scale segment
Location: Department of Water Supply

Qualifications:
Applicants should be in possession of a Diploma in either Civil or Mechanical Engineering obtained from recognized institutions.

Duties

  1. Producing finished drawing from sketches prepared by design Engineers or
  2. Senior Technicians in relations to all aspects of water supply and sewage systems;
  3. Supervising technical assistants in drawing office;
  4. Training technical assistants in drawing technics;
  5. Introducing junior staffs to drawing materials, equipment’s, survey machines and level books.
  6. Encouraging and practices with constant efforts to improve speed and accuracy in the computer;
  7. Demonstrating drawing techniques to junior staff.

Note:
Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
