Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the post of a teacher at Marymount Catholic Secondary School.

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE SCHOOL

Marymount Catholic Secondary School was opened on 29* January, 1963 as a grant aided secondary school. In 1992 it was privatized and it is running under the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu. The school offers quality secondary education to girls (Catholics and Non-Catholics) across the country. The school is located in Mzuzu City and it is situated along the Chimaliro road about 4 kilometers away from the Mzuzu City.

TEACHER

Physics and Chemistry (1)

The successful candidates will be answerable to the School Manager, through the Operations Manager / Academics.

The teacher will be responsible for:

  1. Should be registered with Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM)
  2. Ensuring preparation of schemes and records of work and lesson plans in their teaching subject.
  3. Preparing methods of teaching and assessing students.
  4. Ensuring that the subject matter is delivered within the allocated time
  5. Ensuring that students are given enough work to do
  6. Ensuring that students’ behavior is consistent with standing regulations that the school currently enforce
  7. Listing all teaching materials and maintaining inventory
  8. Preparing and setting both termly and occasional tests
  9. Marking and recording the scores in the report cards and scholastic record forms as per deadlines
  10. Monitoring performance of students and arranging revision where necessary
  11. Identifying subject needs, budgeting and ensuring acquisition of the materials
  12. Liaising with other teachers in the provision of essential information for the development of the students and efficient use of time
  13. Encouraging students to participate in co-curricular activities.
  14. Being exemplary to students

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  2. Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position Must be between the age of 30-55 years
  3. Must be a practicing Christian
  4. Must be sober-minded and honest
  5. Must be computer literate
  6. Must be a self-starter
  7. Retired teachers have an added advantage.
