  1. Mai Halima Girls Secondary School at Chisitu, Mulanje
  2. Mulanje Girls Islamic Center-Primary School at Chisitu, Mulanje
  3. Maone Vocational Training centre at Maone, Limbe

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate in Library and Information Science obtained from a reputable and accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. Passion to serve academic staff and students from diverse backgrounds
  2. Computer literacy
  3. Good oral and written communication especially in English
  4. Ability to maintain patron record confidentiality
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships withstudents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Registering library patrons
  2. Managing the school library and library resources
  3. Promoting the effective and efficient use of the library and library resources
  4. Issuing and discharging books and other library materials
  5. Shelving books and other information resource
  6. Selecting, acquiring, maintaining and weeding irrelevant library stock
  7. Attending to minor user-reference queries
  8. Managing circulation of information resources to users
  9. Collecting and preparing collection user statistics
  10. Assisting in the orientation of new and old library users
  11. Assisting the Head Teacher in assessing the information needs of users; collection of user fees and fines, and identifying and describing library materials
  12. Accessioning and preparing date labels.
