Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP)
The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe (CCJP Lilongwe) is a social arm of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. The Commission works in parishes in the seven districts of the central region in Malawi and coordinates programs in seven districts of the Central Region.
The core duty of the
Commission is to promote justice, peace, and integrity of creation issues at all levels for the betterment of vulnerable groups. The Commission identifies human rights violations and provides awareness of human rights and corresponding responsibilities for a peaceful co-existence. This is a response to the call by the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace-Harare Conference Declaration of July/August 1996. This Conference established and strengthened Justice and Peace Commissions of the Episcopal Conferences and Dioceses, with the emphasis on lay training programs and orientation of communities to justice and peace issues. The Commission wishes to recruit staff in the following Position.
Post of CCJP Project Officer-Based in Lilongwe.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in collecting and analyzing key information and data for effective programming lessons and performance.
- Assist the Legal Office in designing and training of the new Justice and Peace Committees and groups in the Archdiocese based on needs of the target group.
- Assist the Legal Office in the animation of the CCJP Parish Committees.
- Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in managing the Commission webpages.
- Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the timely production of reports, proposals and any other documents for stakeholders’ action and information.
- Assist the Secretary in integrating Justice and Peace issues in the existing Archdiocesan Structures.
- Assist the Secretary in sourcing funds through project proposal writing and local resource mobilization.
Education, Skills and Abilities, Competencies, Training and Experience Requirements):
- Possession of a Degree in Community Development, Governance; Social Work; Gender and/or any other related field.
- Ability to show leadership skills, initiative and innovativeness, reliability and punctuality at all times.
- Ability to show skills in monitoring and evaluation, computer literacy, interpersonal relationships, and communication.
- Readiness and willingness to assimilate, uphold and promote the Social Teaching values of the Catholic Church.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
- At least five years’ experience working in donor-funded projects
