VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill vacant posts of Land Clerks (Grade M) existing in the establishment of various District Councils.

The details of the post are as follows:

Location: Various District Councils
Reporting to : Land Registrar

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Land Clerks will primarily be concerned with the overall administration of land issues at Traditional Authority Level and provision of technical advice on all land issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be in possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with credits in English, Mathematics and Geography.

Those with Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in any field of study, should not apply.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare basic maps and land use plan for each Traditional Land Management Area (TLMA)
  2. Facilitate adjudication, demarcation and registration of customary land
  3. Prepare and maintain land registry transactions at TLMA Level
  4. Provide technical advice on land matters to the Customary Land Committee and Customary Land Tribunal
  5. Monitor compliance with all land related laws including the Land Act, Customary Land Act and Registered Land Act (2016)
  6. Verify boundaries of land parcels and individual claims to those land parcels
  7. Provide advice and guidance on land parcel claims in accordance with Customary Land Act (2016)
  8. Any other relevant duties assigned by the authorities from time to time.
