Ethanol Company Limited (EthCo), is an ethanol and allied products manufacturing firm located in Dwangwa. As part of the process of realigning the Company’s Technical Operating Model (TOM) with its strategy, EthCo seeks to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Malawians to fill the following newly created positions in the company.

ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
Reporting to the Accountant, the successful candidate shall be responsible for the following:

  • Performing bank reconciliations, control account reconciliations, and other reconciling tasks as needed
  • Verifying payables’ transactions, payables’ reconciliations and payments
  • Validating and reviewing of customer payments and related customer invoice verification
  • Project accounts and related transaction verification, validation and internal control checks
  • Analysis, validation and reconciliations of sales volumes against sales invoices on daily basis and debt collection
  • Preparation of VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE and other taxes as well as Tevet and MERA returns
  • Preparation of reports to support the management accounts and financial statements i.e. collecting, analysing and summarising account information and trends.
  • Preparation for financial audits
  • Payroll processing
  • Contributing to the Value Improvement and Innovation Program (V.I.I.P) of the Finance department
  • Upholding Environment, Health, and Safety (E.H.S.) protocols within the Finance Department and the company.

Required Qualifications

  • Accountancy Degree or related qualification from a reputable and N.C.H.E. accredited academic institution.
  • In final stages of studying towards attainment of accounting professional qualification of I.C.A.M., A.C.C.A. and C.I.M.A…

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of performing accounting tasks with a manufacturing entity
  • Three (3) years of carrying out financial audit preparation tasks
  • Knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning (E. R. P.) Package
