The Tea Research Foundation of Central Africa seeks to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill a vacant position of Technical Officer-Agronomy

Main duties and responsibilities

• Assist research scientists in implementing research projects
• Collect and compile data from research trials
• Conduct preliminary data analysis and writing technical reports
• Train and supervise other technical staff in implementing experiments
• Develop and maintain up-to-date data banks for all research projects
• Develop monthly work plans and compile monthly progress reports for all research projects
• Manage the TRFCA tea nursery and maintain up-to-date records of nursery plants, plant sales, and propagation activities
• Supervise tea field development activities and keep accurate records on labour use and greenleaf production
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and implements in Agronomy and Tea Development sections
• Any other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications and Key Competences

• Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution
• Three years of relevant work experience
• Good work planning skills and ability to logically organize research activities and nursery operations
• Ability to work in a team and enhance productivity
• Good interpersonal and communication skills including good report writing skills
• Able to conduct literature reviews on assigned research subjects
• Have good knowledge of tea nursery management
• Innovative, able to work with minimum supervision and meet targets on all agreed work plans
• Good knowledge and experience of using statistical packages, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point
