Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM)

Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) is a local Non-Govemmental Organization that envisions a future with a resilient, equitable society that has self-motivated citizens responsive to the ever-changing world for the betterment of their welfare. CRECCOM exists to sensitize, mobilize, and empower rural communities to own their development initiatives through their effective participation.

CRECCOM has executed over 50 projects across Malawi around: i) Institutional Development (il) Equitable Quality Education (li) Gender and Women Empowerment (iv) Child Protection and Youth Development (v) Climate Change Resilient (vi) Health and well-being for all (vil) Social Accountability and Policy Influence.

CRECCOM is seeking to recruit a Communications Officer to be based at its head office in Zomba.

Duties/Responsibilities

Reporting to the Program Manager – Communications, the incumbent shall be responsible for:

  • Supporting the implementation of CRECCOM’s Development Communication Strategy:
  • Supporting resource mobilisation through strategic communications, marketing, and digital communications strategy.
  • Supporting the management of strategic communications conferences and exhibitions stands and collaterals, conference roles and responsibilities; metrics, data tracking, and post-conference evaluation and actions closeouts.
  • Supporting the designing and delivery of strategic communications’ documentation.
  • Supporting the implementation of key messages defined in CRECCOM’s communications strategy across all functions and media, including developing organizational documentation.
  • Improve CRECCOM’s visibility and update the content on CRECCOM’s website including the creation and maintenance of blogs.
  • Linking all project’s success to CRECCOM’s portfolio
  • Ensuring quality output through the provision of project diagrammatic presentations
  • Participating in communication forums and representing CRECCOM at National and International Levels.
  • Reporting and documenting project impact, lessons learnt, best practices and success stories.
  • Facilitate synergy and networking with implementing partners.
  • Design graphics, textual and audio-visual communication materials including newsletters, flyers, booklets, documentaries, etc print and online publications including social media.
  • Establish and maintain media partnerships and linkages with journalists, reporters, bloggers and other media practitioners.
  • Support the programs team in facilitating communications-related capacity-building activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts – Media for Development/ Communications or any related field.

Experience/ Attributes/Skills

  • Minimum of five years experience in the field of public relations or communications.
  • Those with experience in the digitalization of training and documentation will have an added advantage.
  • Experience in Graphic designing and audio-visual media production using advanced up-to-cate software including Adobe in Design, Adobe Photoshop, etc Experience in producing IEC/promotional materials
  • Hands-on experience in photography and filmmaking
  • Experience media advocacy
    Experience in theatre for development Experience in public relations
  • Experience in digitalization of training programs and documentation
    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages, Must have excellent report-writing skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrates creativity, Innovation and ability to facilitate and capacity to provide prompt information.
  • Research skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
