The National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF) is a government – owned Microfinance Institution whose mission is to economically empower ordinary and underserved Malawians particularly women, youth, and persons with disability through the provision of quality, affordable, and sustainable microfinance services for improved livelihoods.

NEEF invites applications from suitable qualified, mature, ambitious, professional Malawian Nationals with a passion for results and respect for ethics and hands-on experience to fill the vacant posts as follows;

FINANCE OFFICER (GRADE NF6)- TWO (2) POSITIONS

The Finance Officer will report to the Management Accountant and shall be responsible for processing financial transactions, loan portfolio reconciliation and stakeholder relationship management.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Finance Officer oversees the financial transactions, specifically:

  1. Analyzing the Regional monthly cash flow needs, participating in the preparation of budgets for the department and preparing the budget comparison report and revisions.
  2. Processing, Preparing and capturing approved payment vouchers and journals in the Accounting system.
  3. Maintain the accounting books in line with the accounting and procedures manual and Public Finance Management Act. (Filing, Archiving & Retrieval).
  4. Supervising accounting functions including production of accurate bank reconciliations and expenditure reports and Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register.
  5. Participating in the development of reports to management, such as branch profitability and financial analysis reports.
  6. Managing relationships with internal and external auditors (audit preparation and implementation of internal and external audit findings) and banks.
  7. Participating in the implementation of an effective budgeting process in collaboration with all the departments and sit on the Regional Credit Committee.

Qualification and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a reputable and accredited institution plus minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience in similar role. Or
  2. Diploma in Accounting from a reputable and accredited institution and studying towards a degree in accounting or equivalent plus minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience in similar role.

  4. Honesty and integrity.
