STATUS: Three Year Contract-Salaried

African Parks (AP) is a not-for-profit organization that secures a mandate to conserve through Public-Private Partnerships with Governments and communities for the rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas in Africa, and here in Malawi, AP has secured this mandate for the management of Majete Wildlife Reserve, Liwonde National Park and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.

An opportunity has arisen for the post of Accountant General – Finance at Majete Wildlife Reserve in Chikwawa.

This Position will report to the Finance Manager.


Key measures and targets

  1. Monthly preparation of bank accounts reconciliations for all APM accounts
  2. Daily capturing of park revenues in Serenic system
  3. Maintenance of Fixed Asset Management
  4. Daily park revenues collection and reconciliation from Thawale, Heritage Shop & Gate.
  5. Timely Preparation and submission of Tax and Other Statutory returns
  6. Reconciliation and conducting monthly count of stores inventories
  7. Assist in preparation of Offshore Payments Requisition
  8. Preparation of standard Monthly journals i.e. Payroll journals etc.
  9. Reconciliation of various Serenic general ledger accounts-WHT, PAYE, VAT etc.
  10. Assist in reconciliation of Suppliers Accounts
  11. Preparation and follow ups of Workers Compensation Claims
  12. Medical Scheme Handling -MASM
  13. Prepare and update of office inventories for all company property.
  14. Support administration of HR policies and procedures.
  15. Reconciliation of visitor numbers as reported in consolidated park revenue report to the numbers reported in the ledger at the entrance gate.
  16. Reconciliation of customers’ accounts and active follow up of any outstanding invoices
  17. Reconciliation of revenue deposits to revenue reports from Thawale, Gate, HC shop and Community Campsite
  18. Assist in capturing of offshore payments in Serenic
  19. Assist in general Staff Payroll processing.
  20. General Ledger reconciliations

  • Committed, hardworking and with good conduct
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement
  • Computer skills in Microsoft office such as word processing, spreadsheet(excel), PowerPoint and Internet/email
  • Accounting packages: Microsoft Dynamics Serenic Navigator & Sage Line50 & 500 packaging or similar packages
  • Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and studying towards completion of ACCA/ICAM
