About Girls Activist Youth Organisation (GAYO)
Girls Activist Youth Led Organization is a local NGO in Malawi working in Mchinji District. GAYO – Girls Activist Youth Organization (GAYO) is a non-profit making professional organization, primarily concerned with creating a conducive environment on girl’s rights or related issues through Research, development, entrepreneurship, citizen participation, ICT and other communication channels.

Established in 2007 as a club then transformed to organization, GAYO is committed to enhance effective participation of youth in key decision-making structures at all levels. GAYO therefore takes a lead at promoting the rights of Girls. GAYO respects the rights and dignity of Girls and children and all those concerned with their education and social welfare, and seeks to promote awareness on girl’s rights issues through media, public relations, awareness programs, seminars and other traditional and non-traditional modes of communication.

Project Background
Tikwaniritse ndi Kuteteza ma Ufulu a Ana (TiKuMA Programme) is a Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) Framework Agreement funded programme through Save the Children. The goal of the programme is that all children enjoy their right to education and are protected through strong community and government systems by 2028. Contributing towards this goal, Save the Children (SC) and GAYO with other partners will create hubs of excellence in the two districts of Balaka and Mchinji, to generate experience and evidence for replication and scale. To achieve this, we will work with civil society, government actors and children themselves within three interrelated thematic areas:

A strong government system is accountable, responsive, inclusive and transparent in respecting, protecting and fulfilling the rights of children (Child Rights Governance), Children are protected from child marriage, sexual and gender based violence, teenage pregnancies and emotional abuse and have their sexual and reproductive health and rights fulfilled (Child Protection) and children access and complete quality basic inclusive education with improved competencies in foundational literacy and numeracy (Education). This 5-year programme targets 74, 800 children from 100 primary schools and 11,500 out of school adolescent girls and boys in the 2 districts.

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Driver to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating organization vehicles to support the implementation of the Norad Framework Agreement Programme.

Key Responsibilities

1. Transportation

  • Drive company vehicles to transport staff, clients, and goods
  • Ensure safe and timely arrival at destinations
  • Ensure that all trips undertaken are dully approved by the Line Supervisor

2. Vehicle Maintenance

  • Perform routine checks on vehicles (e.g., oil, tire pressure, fuel)
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to management Ensure accurate completion of Vehicle Logbook for every trips undertaken

3. Safety and Security

  • Ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe vehicle environment

4. Customer Service:

  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and staff
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods or luggage

5. Logistics:

  • Plan and optimize routes to ensure efficient transportation
  • Manage fuel consumption and minimize costs

6. Communication

  • Keep management informed of any issues or concerns
  • Provide updates on transportation status and arrival times

Requirements

  • A holder of an MSCE
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid Defensive Driving Certificate
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a driver with knowledge of Motor Vehicle Mechanics
  • Clean driving record
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
