THE VACANT POSITIONS

ENGINEERING MANAGER

Location: Head Office, Area 6, Lilongwe, Malawi

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Engineering Manager is responsible for providing Strategic Leadership, Direction and Guidance on Engineering Services

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning, developing, coordinating and implementing all engineering activities in the Division.
  2. Inspecting activities on constructions sites
  3. Administering engineering services on all project works both done by direct labor and on contract.
  4. Designing of structural elements for MHC and for private clients on behalf of MHC on a commercial basis
  5. Monitoring the preparation of specifications, bid and contract documents for engineering works and consultancies.
  6. Supervising implementation of construction works on new projects.
  7. Assessing performance of structures and their defects.
  8. Liaising with Maintenance Division and other stakeholders on engineering works.
  9. Preparing timely and regular reports
  10. Preparing Divisional budget and monitoring its implementation
  11. Allocating work and appraising staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be registered with a professional licence issued by the Malawi Institute of Engineers.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience at that level of Registered Engineer

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to plan job activities at a high level
  • Self-starter and innovative requiring minimum supervision.
  • Good understanding of housing industry
  • Conversant with appropriate engineering and project management Software Packages e.g AutoCAD, Microsoft Project
  • Resilience and ability to work long hours
  • Team player
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
