Cattle Feedlot Company (CFC) is a Malawian registered company which owns three farms totaling 3,700 hectares in the Shire Valley, southern region. This includes over 1,200 hectares of irrigated sugarcane, under Kaombe Sugar Estate, located at Sorgin/Bangula, Nsanje District and Sande Sugar Estate and Sangowa Farm located at Bereu, in Chikwawa District.

The company is looking for a well-qualified individuals to fill the following position: Safety Officer tenable at our Sande Bereu Farm and also reporting to our Kaombe and Sangowa Farms.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Summary

We are seeking for a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized safety officer to join our company, position tenable at our Sande and Sangowa Farm, at Bereu, Chikwawa District, and also reporting to our Kaombe Estate Farm situated in Bangula, Nsanje District.

As a safety manager you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.

In this position, you will play a key role in establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. You will ensure the safety of all employees, make sure all projects are up to code, and provide advice and recommendations for safety improvements.

Safety Officer Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in, occupational safety and health, or related field
  • 2 years of previous experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk throughout the workday
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Up to date on latest local and state regulations and guideline changes
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Sober Habits
