JOB ADVERTISEMENT PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT

The Lilongwe Water Board is a Statutory Corporation established in 1947 and re- constituted under the Water Works Act (Cap 72). It is responsible for the provision of water supply and Waterborne sanitation services to the City of Lilongwe and surrounding areas designated as its supply area. The Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill the vacant positions on permanent basis.

SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR (Grade LWB 4)
Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager the Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for the following:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assisting in preparation of annual budgets for Internal Audit Function and ensuring that there is adequate and timely mobilization of resources and personnel in respect of audit programs for the furtherance of the objectives of the Board
  2. Assisting in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating implementation of Internal Audit services operational, human resource, administrative, organizational and cultural activities in accordance with good practice and legal provisions;
  3. Assisting in Coordinating and guiding implementation of annual work plans, policies and procedures of the audit function and engagement with various stakeholders.
  4. Preparing Audit programs for approval by Internal Audit Manager
  5. Assist in reviewing and assessing the boards risk management framework, reviewing a quality assurance and improvement program for the division and continuously monitoring its effectiveness
  6. Lead or be a Consulting party in the Audits Assist in training new Auditors
  7. Managing and monitoring a tracking system for audit issues through continuous engagement with stakeholders.
  8. Undertaking special investigations at the request of the Chief Executive, Heads of Departments or Audit Committee
  9. Assist or representing the Board on audit matters at various forums and serve in Board’s Audit related committees
  10. Supervising and appraising staff under his/her charge
  11. Providing consultancy and other client services (e.g., counsel, advice, facilitation, drafting policies, training and process/operations review) to the Board
  12. Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages to customer care Division of which verifiable repair records shall be tendered to be used as one of the components for assessment during one’s performance appraisal time.

Minimum academic and professional qualifications and work experience 

  1. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy/Internal Audit or relevant field. Must be a member of a professional body, such as CIA, ACCA and or similar body with at least five years experience in Auditing
  2. Must be a registered member with Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi (IAM)
