Lilongwe Pentecostal Church Christian School (LPCCS)

Lilongwe Pentecostal Church Christian School (LPCCS) is a well-established school,registered with the Government of Malawi and licensed by the Ministry of Education. LPCCS follows the Government calendar and is compliant with the Education Curriculum issued by the Malawi Institute of Education enforced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. LPCCS is founded on Christian Faith and equally accepts learners from other faith backgrounds.

LPCCS is urgently looking for suitable candidates to fill the following positions:

JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

GRADE: D

SECTION: ADMINISTRATION

REPORTING TO: ACCOUNTANT

WORK STATION: LILONGWE

PURPOSE

The Accounts Assistant shall work hand in hand with the Accountant performing basic day-to-day accounting functions including day-to-day management of cash and bank, bookkeeping, handling checks and payments and any other duties assigned from time to time.

He/She should be able to follow through and comply with financial policies and procedures for proper running of LPCCS and should be able to relate with fellow members of staff and Parents/Guardians.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Confirm school fees deposits on the bank statement and issue receipts to Parents/Guardians.
  2. Prepare payment vouchers with supporting documentation including compliance to deduction of withholding tax.
  3. Maintain petty cash float.
  4. Maintain up-to-date cashbook balances and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  5. Maintain a proper filling system for payment vouchers, receipts, etc.
  6. Ensure statutory payments i.e. for taxes and pension remittance on time.
  7. Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor and/or the Head Teacher.
  8. Should be a Christian in good standing.

Competences

  1. Be computer literate especially working knowledge of excel.
  2. Working knowledge of QuickBooks Accounting Software.
  3. Be a member of ICAM.
  4. Have high level of English proficiency.
  5. Be able to relate with people of all diverse cultural backgrounds.
  6. Be able to follow through and comply with policies and procedures.
  7. Be mature with high morals and integrity.

Education Qualification and Experience

The suitable person should possess ICAM Diploma or its equivalent obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum of five years hands on experience.
