National Water Resources Authority (NWRA)

The National Water Resources Authority (NWRA) is a statutory organization established by the Water Resources Act of 2013 with a specific function to regulate and manage water resources.

Furthermore, the NWRA seeks to ensure the sustainable use of water resources and address the water resources planning, development, and management challenges. In its effort to sustainably manage water resources, the NWRA seeks to recruit members of staff. In this regard, NWRA invites applications from suitably, qualified, and experienced persons to fill the following vacant position:

Job Title : Senior Internal Auditor

Department: Internal Audit Unit

Grade: NW 4

Reporting to: Audit Committee of the Board and Administratively to Executive Director

Responsible for : Internal Auditor

Purpose of the Job

Management of internal audit function and to provide Independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the Authority’s operations for the achievement of its strategic objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates and guides implementation of annual work plans, policies, and procedures of the audit function.
  2. Reviews the accounting and internal control systems, specifically in the following:
  3. Assesses and coordinates the development of Authority’s risk profile and coordinates its review periodically.
  4. Reviews compliance with the laws, regulations, internal policies and other directives
  5. Reviews the implementation of Authority’s corporate objectives.
  6. Conducts special investigations in particular areas of concern.
  7. Provides consultancy and other client services (e.g. counsel, advice, facilitation, drafting policies, training, and process/operations review) to NWRA.
  8. Supervise Assistant Internal Auditors
  9. Allocates Audit staff to different assignments.
  10. Compiles and presents audit evidence in legal actions wherever need be.
  11. Liaises with External Auditors on conducting and concluding of external audits.
  12. Performs such other relevant and lawful duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance.
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in the field of auditing in a busy organization.
  • Those studying towards CIA will have addec advantage.
  • Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
