VACANCY FOR ASSISTANT COUNTRY PROGRAMME COORDINATOR

Federation of Disability Organisations in Malawi (FEDOMA) was founded in 1999 as an umbrella body of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Malawi to provide a unified voice for all persons with disabilities. The Mission of the organisation is “to unify, coordinate and strengthen the efforts and advocacy work of its affiliate members for the wellbeing of Persons with disabilities” “while the vision is “an inclusive barrier free society in which Persons with Disabilities maximise their potential.

A vacant post has arisen in its Programmes department.

FEDOMA would there like therefore to invite applications from suitably qualifies candidates to fill the position of assistant country programme coordinator tenable at its head office Maselema Blantyre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to Country Programme coordinator, the assistant programme coordinators will be responsible for:

  1. Support groups/Organisation of Persons with Disabilities to develop good project proposals.
  2. Assist applicants that face challenges to write applications and reports.
  3. Support in providing training to applicants and implementing organisations.
  4. Receive and keep records of applications from groups/OPDs
  5. Support in appraising applications and review reports.
  6. Undertake field visits to verify the existence of the applicant groups.
  7. Translate applications and reports into English in cases where applications/ reports are vernacular
  8. In liaison with country programme coordinator, present application summaries and final report summaries to the Committee of Local Disability Experts (COLDE).
  9. Support in monitoring funded projects.
  10. Support the preparation of annual plans and budgets
  11. Support in preparing bi-annual reports (narrative and financial)
  12. Support in preparing annual report (narrative and financial) Tasks related to collaboration with Abilis Headquarter
  13. In liaison with country programme coordinator, maintain close contact with Abilis through regular communication by mail, email, videoconference and telephone.
  14. Assist in preparing periodical reports for submission to the Programme partner, Abilis Foundation.
  15. Support in maintaining linkage between the project implementers and Abilis.
  16. Support in providing explanation on applications and reports that need clarification.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is a full-time job. It is an engagement on a specified Contractual term

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Tertiary level qualification in relevant field
  • A minimum of 4 years work experience in any relevant field and those with experience in engaging with persons with disabilities will have an added advantage.
