Madisi Mission Hospital is a provider of secondary level healthcare services and one of the referral hospitals in Dowa District. It is owned by the Catholic Church, Archdiocese of Lilongwe and is affiliated to the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). It is located about 80km from Lilongwe along the M1 road to Kasungu and 1km from Madisi Trading Centre. An opportunity has risen to fill vacant positions within the Hospital as indicated below:

Job Summary: Providing technical clinical and managerial guidance of health services

Duties and responsibilities

• Serving as deputy head of clinical services department
• Taking lead in clinical work (patient care) including being on call, conducting ward rounds and OPD clinics
• Planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating curative activities/ services of the hospital to maintain standard operating procedures
• Compiling periodic reports on the performance of the hospital and curative services
• Planning and ensuring that the hospital has ongoing programmes for in service training for clinical staff
• Supervising implementation of up-to date infection prevention and control guidelines by working closely with the Infection Prevention and Control committee
• Leading in conducting death audits and implement measures to prevent mortality
• Supervising clinical staff and preparing clinical rotas
• Collaborating with Chief Medical Officer on day to day management of the department
• Maintaining an open medical doctor’s office for patient visits throughout working hours
• Preparing reports of all examinations, procedures and other services performed, in accordance with hospital policies and/or any applicable accrediting, regulating or licensing agencies
• Promoting sound clinical governance and service improvements through analysis of complaints, adverse events and other drivers for change
• Maintaining good communication with patients and guardians
• Recommending the procurement of appropriate drugs and medical supplies and medical equipment
• Participating in preparation of annual budgets for the hospital in collaboration with the management committee
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications and Experience

Interested candidates must be holders of a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree or its equivalent from an accredited University, registered with the Medical Council of Malawi with at least 3 years of experience.
