The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant posts that exist in the different sectors of Nkhotakota District Council.

JOB TITLE : LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

GRADE : K/M9

REPORTING TO : SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Biomedical Science obtained from accredited institutions and must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.

DUTIES

  1. Examination of specimens;
  2. Preparations of specimen containers and reagents;
  3. Standardisation of machineries ready for days work;
  4. Reporting of results of yesterday’s specimens previously examined or which has been left over night;
  5. Receiving of specimens from wards, outpatient and district or private clinics;
  6. Collection of specimens from wards, outpatient or private clinics;
  7. Registration of names and specimens in the day book;
  8. Reporting of results and writing up in the day book;
  9. Sending out results to various departments;
  10. Recording data in relevant registers/instruments, perform routine analysis, monitor performance and report to the supervisor following the HMIS and other technical guidelines;
  11. Tools and guidelines, take necessary actions for improvement and submit quarterly report to the designated person;
  12. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.
