Microloan Foundation (Malawi) Limited

Microloan Foundation (Malawi) Limited is a premier microfinance institution which provides financial services and training support to help women set up and manage sustainable businesses in their communities. We are currently seeking dynamic and energetic individual to assist with driving the balanced growth of our portfolio of borrowing customers at various branches in the Northern, Central and Southern Regions of Malawi.

OVERVIEW

You will primarily be responsible for establishing, managing and maintaining key relationships with external partners that have complementary capabilities and resources so that MICROLOAN can realize transformative impact by leveraging their ideas, resources and capabilities. As a key member of the Strategic Partnerships and Social Performance team, you will help bring focus and priority to institutional relationships and help manage specific projects that are uniquely dependent on partnerships.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In a nutshell, the degree to which you will be successful in this position is based on your ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve specified objectives. Having good commercial skills, being proactive, being fully dedicated to your role, and having a clear understanding of how your contribution impacts the bottom-line are very important contributors to this success.

The following are some of the duties you will do:

  • Ensure continuous improvement of internal monitoring and evaluation systems for partnerships so that any potential problems are identified and dealt with at an early stage;
  • Work with the Strategic Partnerships and Social Performance team to identify current high-priority partners for individual initiatives and projects, help refine their current approaches to partnership development and management, and their near- and long-term goals for current and desired partnerships;
  • Ensure that the sourcing, interpreting and reporting of data used in partnership relationship management is at all times accurate and delivered in such a manner as to enable full support of MICROLOAN’s strategic priorities, occasional business case development, and regulatory reporting requirements;
  • Assist with the design, planning and monitoring of SPM outputs and activities and contribute to the satisfactory completion of work plans in collaboration with your Supervisor/Manager;
  • In collaboration with branch teams, obtain qualitative and quantitative data by engaging customers as appropriate, then analyse and collate the data into actionable information that helps shape decision making or helps advance MICROLOAN’s SPM priorities;
  • Use Musoni to develop a thorough understanding of the customer data available and the required processes for individual partners in order to maximise the benefit of insights over simple reporting;
  • Advise business units on appropriate use of analyses and relevant reports, and where necessary, recommend an appropriate course of action that can deliver efficiencies where appropriate;

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Preferably a Degree in Business Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognised registered tertiary institution.
  • A minimum of one year work experience preferably in microfinance
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and people leadership skills
  • A solution-oriented outlook, exceptional integrity, and a strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly use of Excel for data analysis
  • The ability to build sustainable relationships with customers and communities.
  • Ability to convey information and/or ideas concisely in ways that will be clearly understood by tailoring your approach to fit the person or audience by being an active listener that is open and provide appropriate feedback as necessary.
  • Ability to discover the real, underlying needs of customers and partners and take personal responsibility for crafting/customizing solutions that will match those needs and be able to correct problems promptly and manage stakeholder expectations/issues without being defensive.
  • Adaptability to work effectively with individuals or groups having different backgrounds or perspectives from your own.

If this sounds like you, then would like to hear from you. To express your interest in the role, you are required to submit an updated CV along with a brief cover letter detailing how you meet the above requirements to recruit@mlfafrica.org by 10th April, 2024.
