The Centre for Development of People (CEDEP), is a local non-government organization whose mission is to create, promote and protect an enabling legal and social environment for the full realization of the well-being of sexual minorities and vulnerable populations. CEDEP is human rights organization established in November 2005, and registered under that the Trustees Incorporation Act of 1962.

Job Description:

CEDEP is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Officer to join our team. The Communications Officer will be responsible for managing and enhancing CEDEP’s presence across various media platforms, including websites, Twitter, and Facebook. This role will involve creating compelling content, coordinating publications, and engaging with stakeholders to amplify CEDEP’s mission and impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing Communication Strategies: Collaborate with senior management to develop comprehensive communication strategies aligned with CEDEP’s mission and goals.
  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality content for CEDEP’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and other media platforms. This includes articles, blog posts, infographics, videos, and other multimedia materials.
  • Social Media Management: Manage CEDEP’s social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, and engagement. Utilize platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to disseminate information, share updates, and foster dialogue with the community.
  • Website Management: Maintain and update CEDEP’s website with relevant content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Collaborate with internal teams to highlight key initiatives, events, and success stories.
  • Publication Coordination: Coordinate the production and dissemination of publications across all communication channels. This includes newsletters, reports, brochures, and other promotional materials.
  • Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure coverage of CEDEP’s activities, events, and advocacy efforts. Draft press releases, media pitches, and other materials as needed.
  • Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor media platforms and website analytics to track engagement, reach, and impact. Provide regular reports and insights to inform communication strategies and decision-making.
  • Internal Communications: Facilitate internal communication processes to ensure that staff members are informed about organizational updates, events, and opportunities for involvement.
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistency in messaging, tone, and visual identity across all communication channels. Safeguard and enhance CEDEP’s brand reputation through strategic communication initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, including donors, partners, government agencies, and community members, to share information and solicit feedback. Foster strong relationships to amplify CEDEP’s reach and influence.
  • Event Support: Provide communication support for CEDEP’s events, workshops, campaigns, and advocacy efforts. Develop promotional materials, coordinate media coverage, and leverage social media to maximize visibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, media relations, or digital marketing, preferably in the nonprofit sector or development organizations.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, for organizational branding and engagement.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience in website management and content creation using content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress.
  • Knowledge of graphic design tools and multimedia production software is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to analyze data to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies.
