Background of Trócaire Malawi
Trócaire Malawi has been operational for several years, working closely with local partners to reduce poverty and improve the resilience of vulnerable communities. The Malawi Country Office focuses on promoting sustainable livelihoods, addressing issues of gender equality, governance, and economic justice. Through a rights-based approach, the office ensures that its programs promote social justice, inclusivity, and long-term community resilience.
Request for Proposals
Trócaire would like to engage a reputable audit firm to carry out an external audit for the financial year ended Feb 2025. The contract will be renewable for a three-year period.
Audit Objectives
The purpose of the Trócaire external audit is to obtain reasonable assurance that the financial statements reflect a true and fair view of the financial position of the organization. The audit will be performed in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) and International Standards of Auditing (“ISA”).
The audit report will include an Independent Auditors Report (Opinion) on the financial statements. The audit will also include such other required schedules or analyses as Trócaire has determined are necessary in order to ensure that program resources are being properly managed. The auditors should also assess the organization’s compliance with relevant applicable regulatory authorities.
Scope of Work
The scope of the audit includes but is not limited to:
- Auditing the financial statements of Trócaire Malawi Office for the year ended 28th February 2025
- In conformity with generally accepted auditing standards, provision of an audit report on the financial statements to Trócaire on all relevant matters, including:
- An opinion on whether the financial statements are based on proper accounts and records.
- An opinion on whether the statements are in agreement with the accounts and the records.
- An opinion on whether the Income and Expenditure by Trócaire Malawi Office during the year has been in accordance with Trócaire’s Finance and budgeting Manual.
- Ascertaining whether the existing financial practices and procedures are sound, in line with the financial policies and administrative procedures.
Deliverables
The Audit firm will be expected to perform a comprehensive and detailed audit of Trócaire Malawi in accordance with International Standard of Auditing (ISA). The Audit report will include an independent Auditors’ opinion on the financial statements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The eligible Audit firms should meet the following criteria:
- Compliance with legal requirements on registration.
- Have at least 10 years’ experience in audit reporting under the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
- Compliance with IFAC code of ethics.
The firm must also be able to demonstrate:
- Results of the latest practice reviews conducted by the firm’s internal quality reviewers and ICAM.
- Experience in reviewing international organisations accounts
- Experience of each of the senior members of the firm and how they will be involved in the engagement.
Safeguarding
Trócaire maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards exploitation and abuse, requiring all consultants to adhere to our Safeguarding Policy. Consultants must ensure that their conduct upholds Trócaire’s ethical standards, especially regarding power dynamics and vulnerable groups.
