Position: Business Operations Manager
Location: Blantyre
Reporting to: Group Chief Executive Officer
Continental Properties Limited (CPL), a strategic subsidiary of Continental Holdings Plc, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position mentioned above.
The role
The Business Operations Manager will be responsible for driving the implementation of CPL’s business strategy, commercial growth and operational performance, with particular focus on business development, client relationship management, motor vehicle fleet and asset leasing, property development, property management, and project management.
The role requires a commercially driven professional who can identify and convert business opportunities, grow CPL’s client and leasing portfolio, effectively manage fleet and other assets, and deliver projects within approved cost, time and quality parameters. The incumbent will also be accountable for improving asset utilisation, occupancy levels, rental yields, operational efficiency and overall business profitability.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the implementation of CPL’s strategic plan and agreed performance targets through profitable business development, leasing, property investment and Project opportunities.
- Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities in motor vehicle leasing, equipment leasing, property and related services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective corporate and institutional clients.
- Prepare and negotiate commercial proposals, pricing and leasing arrangements.
- Manage CPL’s owned and leased motor vehicle fleet, including acquisition, utilisation, maintenance, insurance, replacement and disposal.
- Monitor fleet and leasing performance, asset utilisation, costs, profitability and contractual compliance.
- Oversee fleet management systems, preventative servicing, GPS tracking, driver safety and accident or breakdown response arrangements.
- Develop and implement appropriate asset lifecycle, depreciation, replacement and disposal strategies for CPL’s fleet and other assets.
- Identify and evaluate viable property development and investment opportunities.
- Oversee property management, including tenant relations, maintenance, occupancy and rental yield optimisation.
- Manage facilities and service-provider arrangements, including security, cleaning and building maintenance contracts, in accordance with agreed service standards.
- Manage development and other projects from planning through completion, ensuring effective cost, quality and timelines
- Coordinate contractors, consultants and other service providers and oversee the transition of completed developments or renovations into CPL’s active leasing portfolio.
- Develop strategic relationships with banks, pension funds, fund managers, institutional investors, suppliers and other partners.
- Identify financing opportunities and prepare business cases, investment papers and funding proposals.
- Manage operational expenditure and capital projects within approved budgets and implement effective billing and collection arrangements for fleet clients and property tenants.
- Ensure effective risk management, governance and regulatory compliance across CPL’s operations.
- Prepare timely management and Board reports on financial performance, business development, property management, fleet and leasing operations, project delivery, risks and compliance.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Project Management or a related field
- A relevant Master Degree or professional qualification will be an added advantage
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant work experience, of which at least three (3) vears should be at managerial level.
- Demonstrable experience in a combination of fleet management, motor vehicle or asset leasing, business development/client management, project management, property development or property management.
- Proven ability to develop new business, manage client relationships and grow revenue.
- Experience in commercial negotiations, contract management and/or project financing will be an added advantage.
