POSITION: INSURANCE UNDERWRITING OFFICER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess, evaluate, and underwrite insurance risks in line with company underwriting guidelines and policies.
  • Prepare and issue insurance quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals accurately and timely.
  • Analyze proposal forms, supporting documents, and loss histories to determine acceptable risk levels.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and underwriting standards.
  • Liaise with brokers, agents, and clients on underwriting matters and risk requirements.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective underwriting actions where necessary.
  • Support premium rating, reinsurance arrangements, and risk surveys where applicable.
  • Maintain proper underwriting records and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Professional insurance qualification (e.g., ACII, Dip CII, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in insurance underwriting or a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and customer focus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and underwriting systems.
