tenable in Food & Agribusiness Department, Lilongwe.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Reporting to the Team Lead Food & Agribusiness, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, managing a high-quality agribusiness portfolio and supporting the bank’s strategy in agricultural value chain financing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among other responsibilities:

  • Drive growth of the Food & Agribusiness portfolio through prospecting, sales and client engagement.
  • Identify new business opportunities across agricultural value chains.
  • Conduct client onboarding, due diligence and relationship management.
  • Prepare credit applications, financial assessments and risk reviews.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, repayments and early warning indicators.
    Conduct field and site visits to assess client operations and business needs.
  • Support implementation of value chain financing programs and agribusiness initiatives.
  • Prepare performance reports and provide market insights.
  • Promote bank products, drive deposit mobilization and increase product uptake.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure high service standards.
  • Support budgeting and tracking departmental targets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, credit procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to enhance service delivery and product solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Credit Risk Management will be an added.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in agricultural finance, agribusiness management, or related fields.
    Demonstrated experience in client relationship management and credit analysis.
  • Proven ability to conduct field assessments, interpret agricultural production cycles and analyze value chains.
  • Experience working with stakeholders such as farmers, agro-dealers, processors and development partners.
