Partners in Hope (PIH)

Partners in Hope (PIH) is a faith-based Malawian Non-Governmental organization that was established in 2004 to offer equitable health services and founded on robust commitment to support National HIV and AIDS response in Malawi. PIH has a medical center that operates a general outpatient clinic; inpatient wards; as well as a public HIV- focused Moyo Outpatient Centre of Excellence. PIH is incorporated under the provisions of Trustees Incorporation Act, 1962, in Malawi. With a Program Award under Cooperative Agreement No: 72061221CA00010 “Client-Oriented Response for HIV Epidemic Control (CORE -1) Activity Component One (1)” by the United States of America PEPFAR through USAID, PIH supports HIV Care and Treatment implementation in 123 Ministry of Health, CHAM and Private health facilities in 9 districts across Malawi (Mulanje, Chikwawa, Lilongwe Nsanje, Dowa, Kasungu, Nkhotakota, Karonga, and Chitipa. Under the CORE 1 Cooperative Agreement, PIH is seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals to be deployed in various districts across Malawi in the following positions:

Location: PIH Supported districts
Reporting to : District Program Coordinator/District Program Officer

Position Summary
Psychosocial counsellors will support the quality counselling to ensure recipients of care are retained in care. They are required to provide high quality psychosocial services and related therapeutic functions to recipients of care living with HIV, their partners, families, caregivers and others affected by HIV infection.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Support and facilitate provision of health talks in designated areas (HF) to create demand for HIV testing, viral load uptake, Cervical cancers, TB screening and other services.
  2. Collaborate and support HTS providers at facility and community level in provision of index case testing and HIV self-testing
  3. Support recipients of care with referrals, to HIV testing services, ART clinic and reproductive health services within the health facilities
  4. Form part of the district mentorship team and assist in ensuring both MOH and PIH providers develop the capacity to provide Psychosocial support to recipients of care
  5. Work in liaison with the DPO/DPC to conduct CPD lectures/ sessions on provision of robust Psychosocial support, as part of mentorship
  6. While working with the PIH and MOH lead, oversee Treatment Supporters and ensure coordinated scheduling of activities

Qualifications

  • A Diploma in psychosocial counselling or Social Work from a recognized institution
  • Certified HIV testing services providers and those with experience in working with adolescent and children living with HIV will have an added advantage.
