Telekom Networks Malawi Plc (TNM) is looking for a suitably qualified person to join our team as a Procurement and Supply Chain Management Director.

Main Purpose

To lead in the planning, execution, and optimization of procurement and supply chain activities to ensure an efficient flow of materials, products, and services through the supply chain while driving cost savings, supplier relationships, and operational excellence.

Key Performance Areas

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement procurement and supply chain management strategy aligned with TNM’s business goals and objectives.
  • Lead the transformation of procurement and supply chain functions, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversee the end-to-end operations for the entire supply chain function.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of supply chain professionals across various functions.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the department.
  • Identify inefficiencies within the supply chain and procurement processes and timely address them.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce lead times, and streamline workflows.

2. Supply Chain Analysis

  • Monitor, collect and analyse data, industry trends and technological advancements to identify trends, insights, and drive innovation.
  • Monitor and optimize supply chain processes for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve overall supply chain performance.
  • Develop accurate demand forecasts to guide procurement and inventory planning.
  • Utilize data analytics and supply chain management tools to track and analyze key performance indicators (KPls).
  • Generate insightful reports and actionable insights to drive informed decision-making.

3. Procurement Management

  • Manage the procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Identify and onboard reliable suppliers and vendors to ensure high-quality products and services at competitive prices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand procurement needs and align them with strategic objectives.
  • Ensure timely procurement of goods and services to support the business.

4. Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and conditions to optimize value and performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and develop strategies for improving collaboration and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in quality and delivery.

5. Inventory and Demand Management:

  • Develop strategies to optimize inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts.
  • Collaborate with demand planning teams to ensure accurate forecasts and timely inventory replenishment.
  • Implement inventory control measures to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Monitoring and tracking stock movements.

6. Logistics

  • Manage inventory delivery logistic costs and improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate the movement of inventory and ensure timely delivery to destination.
  • Manage logistics partners and service providers and address any challenges to enhance delivery processes.
  • Monitor and track shipments to address any issues that may arise.

7. Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks that could disrupt supply chain operations and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay informed about market trends and industry developments that may impact procurement and supply chain activities.

Educational and professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Procurement.
  • Post-graduate professional qualification in supply chain management.
  • Master’s degree in strategic management or business administration.
  • 6 to 8 years’ experience in procurement at managerial level.
  • Knowledge in supply chain management and contract administration.
  • Negotiation and policy formulation and planning skills.
  • High degree of honesty and integrity.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret management accounts.
