
Opportunity International Malawi
The Finance Officer will provide financial, administrative, and payroll support to Opportunity International Malawi, ensuring smooth, efficient, and ethical operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain and record transactions in the cheque register ensuring accuracy in coding of Sub restrictions and accounting codes.
- Issue invoices to customers and follows up on their payments.
- Process payments to suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Work with the Finance Manager to ensure that all Malawi Taxation obligations are made on a timely basis, and all reports are filled.
- Prepare project reports on timely basis.
- Ensure proper documentation and support payments is available.
- Manage and record petty cash expenses.
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a timely basis and resolve outstanding items.
- Manage bank withdrawals and deposits.
- Track expenses relate to specific projects and jobs.
- Responsible for the purchase of office supplies and support regional procurement needs.
- Maintain a Fixed Asset Register.
- Supporting completion of external audit by collecting and providing requested documentation.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships including IPR, INPP, INSS, ONEM, Auditors, and donors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in finance, accounting or related specialty.
- 2 -5 years of experience in similar role.
- Ability to work well under pressure of meeting deadlines and setting priorities.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
- Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
- Strong communications ability and commitment to teamwork.
- Proven reporting ability.
- Extensive experience with accounting procedures and systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with vendors, clients and partners.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Written and Verbal fluency in English and French, must be able to attend and fully participate in meetings conducted in English.
CONTRACT TYPE
- Two (2) Year Fixed Term
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- 10% Local travel as necessary to communicate with vendors or partners.
