NBS Bank Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the following vacancy tenable in Wholesale Banking Department in Lilongwe.
TRADE FINANCE MANAGER
Reporting to the Chief Wholesale Banking officer, the successful candidate’s responsibility will be to design and structure innovative trade finance solutions tailored to meet clients’ needs, enhance revenue generation, manage trade-related risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The candidate is required to have deep expertise in structuring deals, understanding trade finance instruments, commodity financing and building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders for NBS Bank.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among other responsibilities:
Develop and structure trade finance solutions, including letters of credit, guarantees, commodity financing, and supply chain financing to meet client needs.
- Assess client requirements, industry trends, and financial data to design effective financing structures.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients to achieve mutually beneficial agreements while mitigating risks.
- Provide expert guidance on trade finance structuring and profitable pricing strategies.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and trust
- Work closely with corporate clients to understand their business models and provide tailored trade finance solutions.
- Support relationship managers in identifying and acquiring new trade finance clients.
- Evaluate credit, operational, and market risks associated with trade finance transactions.
- Collaborate with risk management and compliance teams to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
- Liaise with internal teams (product management, operations, legal, and treasury) to facilitate smooth transaction execution.
- Stay updated on global and regional trade finance trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
- Ensure all trade finance transactions comply with local and international regulations and reviewing contracts and agreements for accuracy ano legal soundness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Those with a Master’s degree or CFA certification will have an added advantage.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in structuring trade finance solutions, credit management, corporate banking, treasury solutions, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of trade finance platforms and tools.
- Professional certifications in trade finance are highly desirable.

- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
