Role Overview

  • The Senior Consumer Lending Manager, Group, reporting to the Head of Consumer Lending, Group, will be responsible for driving efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment across lending operations. This role oversees risk management, process optimization, and regulatory adherence while enhancing credit policies and leveraging automation for scalability. Additionally, it supports sales growth, new product launches, and customer experience improvements, ensuring a balanced approach to risk, profitability, and sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive planning, budgeting, and performance management with country teams.
  • Board Credit Committee representation and support for the 4 operations
  • Co-ordinate and support implementation of new initiatives across lending segments.
  • Align credit operations and business objectives with organizational goals.
  • Support new product development and successful market launches.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to drive sales through strategic campaigns.
  • Improve sales models using branch networks and direct sales strategies.
  • Review and enhance credit processes to maintain portfolio quality.
  • Update and refine credit policies and underwriting standards regularly.
  • Optimize loan disbursement for efficiency, compliance, and speed.
  • Lead risk management, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strengthen collections strategies to keep NPLs within appetite
  • Drive process automation and technology adoption for scalability.
  • Train and manage credit and operations teams for high performance.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and support and guide analytics teams regarding Consumer Lending
  • Ensure 100% regulatory compliance and adherence to risk frameworks.
  • Enhance customer experience and optimize loan turnaround times across the 4 operations
  • Balance risk and profitability while supporting sustainable business growth.
  • Co-ordinate and Spearhead Business Continuity processes for the Consumer Lending Operations.

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Sub-Saharan Lending Environment
  • In-depth understanding of banking and lending strategies
  • Experience in payroll deducted lending
  • Digital and data analysis expertise

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Banking, Business, Risk or related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Consumer credit management.
  • Excellent knowledge of processes and procedures, specifically in Consumer Lending
