JOB VACANCY – FIELD OFFICER

 Location          : Estates  in Mulanje & Thyolo

Start Date        : June 2024

 

General Description of the Role

Working in a Tea Estate, the Field Officer will report to the Field Manager. He/she will assist in daily  distribution of work and ensuring that all work is carried out according to plan, task and of good quality. In addition, assist in formulating different programs for the division and follow them up to achieve the required objectives, including certification programs.

Key duties Include

  1. To plan, in advance, all agricultural operations pertaining to the crop that you are responsible for.
  2. Implement timely harvesting programs so that only quality raw material is always dispatched to the processing units.
  3. Carry out all other field works in time viz. Weeding. Fertilizer application, Foliar spraying, Plant protection measures etc.
  4. Provide accurate Labour requirement feedback to enable recruitment in preparation for all operations.
  5. Ensure best work standards are maintained and all company policies are scrupulously maintained.
  6. Complete compliance with all applicable Accreditation Standards.

 

Qualifications and Key prerequisites

  1. Education: Degree in Agriculture or related studies.
  2. Experience: 3-5 years working in field management.
  3. Motorcycle driving license preferred
  4. Team: Proven ability to manage a team and able to train employees in the field.
  5. Communications: Fluent in English and Chichewa including writing and reading.
  6. Organization: Excellent time management skills; attention to detail; the capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency; ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, create / implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals; and ability to make clear, timely decisions.
  7. Computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and e-mail knowledge.
  8. Must be an individual of high Ethical standards, Honest and Well motivated who can work with minimum supervision.
