Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitably qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat.

A. TEMPORARY POSTS

Job Title: Temporary Elections Management Device Technicians
Number Required : 180
Responsible to: Director of ICT
Purpose: Facilitate voter registration process by ensuring that the EMDs are operational
Location: MEC Head Office

Key duties & responsibilities

  • Ensuring proper timetabling of events and timely delivery of solutions
  • Taking care of the EMD’s and materials
  • Repairing and maintenance of EMD
  • Account for EMD spare parts and accessories at all times
  • Drawing up an EMD list of requirements
  • Inspecting of EMDs before and at the end of each phase in accordance with the checklist
  • Producing reports on a daily basis and at the end of each phase
  • Working with team members to troubleshoot complex and routine hardware issues
  • Communicating with the EMD Operators to resolve technical problems
  • Adapts quickly to changing circumstances and requests from operators
  • Prompt response in crises to resume normal operations in time
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education
  • At least a Certificate in Information Communication and Technology,
  • Certificate in Electronics or a Certificate in IT Essentials (Hardware & Peripheral Maintenance)
  • Malawian Citizen with National ID

Core Competence

  • Mature, creative, and able to work in the field with minimum supervision
  • Having worked with the Malawi Electoral Commission as a BVRK Technician will have an added advantage.
  • Or Having worked with the National Registration Bureau as a BRK Technician during mass civil registration will have an added advantage
  • Applicants must be able to discharge their duties in a non-partisan manner
  • Must demonstrate impartiality at all times
