
Malawi Electoral Commission
The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.
In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitably qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat.
A. TEMPORARY POSTS
Job Title: Temporary Constituency Civic and Voter Education Assistants
Number Required : 229
Responsible to: Director of Civic and Voter Education
Location: Councils
Purpose: To raise CVE awareness to ensure that the electorate in the constituency are adequately motivated and informed
Key duties & responsibilities
- Distributing CVE material as assigned within their constituency;
- Organizing venues of meeting with Chiefs/ Block leaders and their subjects;
- Conducting CVE meetings within their constituency;
- Giving constituency monthly workplans to DECs in their working councils;
- Liaising with other stakeholders who are working within their constituency in implementing CVE programmes;
- Monitoring CSO’s and other service providers that are conducting CVE in their constituency;
- Evaluating the impact of CVE strategies at ward/ Constituency level;
- Assist in organizing and implementing CVE meetings and other programmes from time to time;
- Giving feedback to District Elections Officers and ACVEO’s
Qualification
- MSCE
- Possession of a Diploma in Education, Community Development, Marketing, Arts, Humanities or Journalism
- Malawian Citizen with National ID
Core Competence
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and meeting deadlines
- Be fluent in both oral and written English
- Be fluent in the language that is commonly spoken in the constituency
- Be able to write reports
- Be physically fit
- Applicants should provide evidence of a traditional authority stamp
- Must demonstrate impartiality at all times
