Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitably qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat.

Job Title: Graphics Designer

Responsible to: Director Civic and Voter Education
Location: Head Office

Key duties & responsibilities

  • Generating creative concepts for product design
  • Creating and editing multimedia products (images, audios, videos, animations, virtual reality etc.) in collaboration with MPR and CVE teams
  • Capturing professional images and videos
  • Creating, organizing and maintaining a library or database of photos, videos, art designs, products etc.
  • Reviewing concepts, designs, layouts and providing art direction in compliance to brand standards and project objective
  • Producing monthly reports on work undertaken
  • Preparing finished art for commercial production.
  • Building relationships with other departments to ensure accuracy of information
  • Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web and application developers, printers, and other stakeholders as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Diploma in Graphic Design/ Visual Communication or Marketing, Public Relations or Mass Communication from a reputable and recognized university plus 3 years work experience in design
  • A professional qualification in motion graphics, animation or multimedia design will be an added advantage

Between 21 and 35 Years

Core Competence

  • Proficiency in using the Adobe Suite (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Aftereffects, Premiere Pro and Lightroom)
  • Proven knowledge, creative and highly skilled in graphic design
  • Adequate knowledge in digital content management and brand management
  • Receptive to creative critique and ability to manage internal and external relationships
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in teams and quickly adapt to changing situation
