The Southern African Development Community – Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) is a subsidiary institution of SADC established in 2003 under the SADC Protocol on Finance and Investment (FIP) as a shared central resource between Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) within the SADC region. The SADC-DFRC’s mandate is to provide technical and capacity building support; policy research and advisory services; and to promote the effective mobilisation of resources by the financial sector, in particular DFIs, for investment in key areas with the potential to stimulate growth, generate employment and alleviate poverty, in line with the objectives of SADC under the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP). To this end, the institution wishes to recruit a highly experienced and dedicated Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to advance the above-mentioned mandate. The position is tenable in Gaborone, Botswana.

As the CEO, you will be expected to provide a strategic direction, policy guidance and ensure the DFRC’s mandate is realised. You will need to have a multicultural approach and a proven champion of partnerships and collaborations that have made a significant impact in your career. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, your responsibilities include oversight of the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic plan; work programmes and operational budgets; skilled resource acquisition and people management; stakeholder management and resource mobilisation.

The successful candidate will be an astute leader with diplomatic savviness to interact and navigate with the SADC leadership and have the credibility to lead resource mobilisation among the DFIs Network. This role will need a hands-on individual who will be able to roll up their sleeves and get the work done. In addition, you will be a respected thought leader who has presented at regional and international conferences through paper submissions and presentations. An ideal candidate must have as a minimum master’s degree in Economics or any other related field coupled with at least ten (10) years post-graduate experience, five (5) of which should have been acquired in a similar role or a senior management position delivering programmes, policy research or high-level advisory services in donor funded institutions or similar. Knowledge and experience working in Development Finance Institutions is advantageous.

The appointment will be on a fixed term contract for a period of five (5) years, renewal once for an equal period. Eligible applicants will be citizens of SADC Member States, aged 50 years or younger. As an equal opportunity employer, applications from women are encouraged.
