Procurement Officer – Projects Support

The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Procurement Officer – Projects Support.

Under the supervision of the Senior Procurement Officer – Projects, the Procurement Officer Projects Support will procure goods, services, and works for the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonisation (AMRH) Programme and at times other AUDA-NEPAD programmes by managing the entire procurement and tendering process from requirement definition to supply of goods and services, consultancy, and works. The Officer will also manage the entire contract management until the liquidation/closure of contracts.

Required Skills and Competencies

  1. Experience in Public Procurement with a demonstrated technical knowledge and analytical skills in supply chain management.
  2. Knowledge of international standards, guidelines, and procedures for procuring works, consultancy services goods & services.
  3. Experience in SAP ERP or other similar ERP systems.
  4. Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Access, etc
  5. Excellent negotiation skills.
  6. Excellent oral, writing, and editing skills, with extensive experience in report writing.
  7. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
  8. Ability to train AMRH Project Unit and other team members.
  9. Ability to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, initiative, and with sound judgment.
  10. High level of integrity and accountability, flexible approaches to work coupled with enthusiasm, commitment, and energy.
  11. Ability to leverage limited resources and staff for maximum impact.
  12. Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with various individuals and institutions.
  13. Creative thinking, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  14. Maintain confidentiality at the highest level at all times.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Logistics, Civil Engineering, and Law or a related field with A minimum of one (1) year of progressive experience in the field of Procurement, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Warehousing, and Distribution within public sector institutions, international organisations, or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

  • CIPS Advanced Certificate and Procurement Professional Certification will be an added advantage.

Remuneration: Indicative basic salary of US$28,976.97 per annum plus other entitlements e.g., Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($21,832.68 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary) in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
