The Global Development and Innovation division of the Purdue Applied Research Institute (PARI GDI), a nonprofit subsidiary of Purdue University, is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations for an anticipated USAID-funded activity in Malawi, Youth Prosperity through Agricultural Pathways in Higher Education. The expected results include increasing access to agriculture higher education programs, improving the quality, governance, and relevance of agriculture training institutions’ systems, and increasing economic growth opportunities for graduates to contribute to the formal economy.
Employment is contingent upon the successful award of the project to PARI GDI, as well as USAID approval of the finalist.
The Director of Finance and Operations will provide overall leadership and oversight in the areas of financial management, human resources (HR), procurement, logistics, and IT. The director will report directly to the COP and work closely with the PARI GDI operation team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee all project operations, including administration, finance, human resources, procurement and logistics, and IT.
- Coordinate the day-to-day management of financial and operational staff.
- Support the COP in providing overall management and operational oversight of the project.
- Ensure the quality and timely submission of deliverables to USAID, including annual plans, quarterly, annual, and financial reports per USAID guidelines
- Assist in identifying, recruiting, and managing consultants, subcontractors, and/or sub-awardees.
- Establish and maintain financial management and accounting control systems for project expenditures.
- Ensure that the project meets all donor contractual requirements and complies with donor policies and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related fields.
- Extensive relevant professional experience working on project operations of donor-funded projects, including USAID-funded projects.
- Strong understanding of USAID financial and operational compliance requirements
- Demonstrated leadership skills, management skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills in English; fluency in Chichewa or other local languages of Malawi is strongly preferred.
