QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER (1 post)
Reporting to: Director of Academics and Quality Assurance
Contract Duration: 3 years, subject to renewal
Job Purpose
The Catholic University of Malawi strives to be a centre of excellence for quality, holistic education. The position of Quality Assurance Manager is therefore meant to ensure that the university adheres to quality standards in all its operations.
Roles and responsibilities
- Ensuring that the university’s academic policies are up-to-date and implemented.
- Ensuring that the university has adequate infrastructure and resources to support quality education.
- Coordinating the review of the university’s regulations for academic programmes.
- Coordinating preparations for institutional and programme audits by regulatory bodies.
- Coordinating the nomination and appointment of external examiners and consolidating feedback from external examiners.
- Advising academic and professional service staff on quality assurance systems for programme approval, (re)validation, modification, and review processes
- Supporting the institutional review process and the completion of institutional self-evaluation.
- Consolidating an annual institutional report to be submitted to the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) and the National Council for Higher Education.
- Acting as a desk reviewer for all programme reviews and validation.
Line-managing the Academic Programmes Planning and Accreditation Officer, the Quality Assurance Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, and the Standards Compliance Officer. - Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and experience
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
- Above-average ICT skills.
Data management skills. - Understanding of the current national and international quality assurance standards and trends.
- Ability to create and develop quality assurance strategies and instruments
