
Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO)
Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.
MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.
With funding from CDC through I-TECH, MACRO is implementing the Recency Project whose goal is: to use a rapid test for recent infection (RTRI) to provide continuous epidemiologic data on person, place, and time of newly diagnosed individuals to inform HIV prevention and treatment strategies.
Therefore, MACRO is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions.
Role: Site Coordinator (2)
Position Overview
Site Coordinators will facilitate and monitor Recency Surveillance (RS) at health facilities. The coordinators will support RS facility level operations and provide technical assistance to HDAs and staff conducting HIV testing in carrying out recency testing.
Main Responsibilities
- Train, mentor and support facility staff on RS SOPs
- Facilitate effective integration of RS into routine facility HIV testing services
- Ensure compliance to National HTS guidelines including the Recency Surveillance informed consent, testing and documentation procedures
- Conduct data collection, electronic data entry and reporting, using both paper forms and tablets
- Coordinate the shipping of DBS samples for quality assurance and viral load testing.
- Support recency test quality control activities at facility level
- Collaborate with the RS management and the facility pharmacy incharge to ensure availability and timely resupply of recency test kits and other consumables
- In coordination with the HTS site supervisors, support HIV testing services and reporting at entry points offering recency testing, as appropriate
- Submit a comprehensive technical report monthly to zonal office as per TORs
- Develop and share monthly activity work plan and hold weekly review meetings remotely with supervisor
- Attend periodic meetings to review RS activities at district/zonal level and share reports and updates as appropriate.
Qualifications
▪ A Diploma in health-related field from a recognized institution and those with training in nursing, community nursing, laboratory or any other related health field are most preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Certificate in HIV testing services and/or HTS supervision
- Previous experience in surveillance work involving human subjects such as HIV testing services
- Minimum 2 years work experience in a research or health setting
- Previous experience in using tablets for data collection
