The Lilongwe Water Board is a Statutory Corporation established in 1947 and re-constituted in 1995 under the Water Works Act (Cap 72). It is responsible for the provision of water supply and sanitation services to the City of Lilongwe and other surrounding areas designated as its supply area.

The Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawi origin to fill the following position that exist within the Board

Job Title: Network Engineer
Division: Infrastructure Development
Grade: LWB 5
Reporting to: Infrastructure Planning Manager
Responsible for: Network Technician

Job Purpose

To monitor hydraulic network performance

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Modeling water network
  2. Conducting hydraulic analysis to identify water problems in the system and correcting them (to copy under Zone Engineer)
  3. Monitoring the performance of the water network system and making appropriate recommendations
  4. Calibrating the network system
  5. Taking charge of the Water Board Telemetry and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
  6. Supervising and appraising staff under his/her charge
  7. Producing reports
  8. Managing the Water Board’s hydraulic model
  9. Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages to the Customer Care Division, of which verifiable repair records shall be tendered to be used as one of the components for assessment during one’s performance appraisal time

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Work Experience

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  2. At least three (3) years working in a water-related organisation
