RESPONSIBILITIES

 JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Operations and Planning will lead the Broadband Technical Operations and Planning team, ensuring optimal network performance, capacity planning, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for driving strategic initiatives for broadband infrastructure, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring compliance with Airtel’s quality of service (QoS) standards and regulatory requirements.

The role further drives execution and delivery of projects for customers as acquired by the business team

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee the operational health of broadband networks (IP/MPLS, transmission, access, FTTX, FTTB, HBB).
  • Ensure proactive monitoring, fault management, and resolution within SLA.
  • Drive automation and efficiency in Broadband network operations processes.
  • Drive network operations excellence through proper governance process including Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance and Spare Management
  • Provide support and assistance for primary and secondary level troubleshooting
  • Will work closely with and liaison to other facets of the company, such as Engineering, Operations, Customer Service and Management.
  • Develop and maintain capacity plans for broadband infrastructure, FTTX, FTTB, HBB,
  • Forecast traffic growth and plan upgrades to meet business and customer demands.
  • Align network expansion with commercial and strategic objectives.
  • Align the network infrastructure in line with emerging trends and modernize the systems accordingly
  • Monitor and analyze network KPIs to ensure compliance with QoS targets.
  • Implement optimization strategies to improve network performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Drive QoS SLA governance with teams and partners
  • Provide direction and support to project team and Project Quality assurance
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders both internal and external
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Project evaluations and assessment of results

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunications, IT or related fields ) – Masters Degree as an added advantage
  • Sound knowledge of Mobile and Broadband Network Operations and Maintenance
  • Analytical and Presentation skills
  • Leadership skills

Relevant Experience 

  • 5-7 years of varied experience in implementation, operation and maintenance in the ICT and  Telecom industry
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a Broadband and IT Networks
  • At least 2 years of second line experience in an area of IP network and Broadband Operations
  • Ability to innovate and deliver value to business
  • Ability to manage an outsourcing Partner to deliver business solution
  • Personal Integrity and good interpersonal relationship
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Time management skills with commitment to project timelines.
