Bholato Foods Limited is a maize flour production company based in Lilongwe, Malawi. We are committed to delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality flour products in line with the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS). We are seeking a results-oriented and experienced professional to lead our Quality Assurance team.
Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety systems across the plant. The ideal candidate will ensure full compliance with MBS, ISO 22000, and HACCP standards, and will lead efforts in product quality, regulatory inspections, and staff training.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and continuously improve MBS-compliant food safety and quality systems
- Conduct internal audits, quality inspections, and ensure effective corrective actions
- Develop and maintain SOPs in alignment with MBS, ISO 22000, and HACCP standards
- Ensure that all product batches meet microbiological, chemical, and physical quality parameters
- Lead the Quality Control (QC) team, including lab technicians and sanitation supervisors
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to resolve quality-related issues
- Prepare periodic quality performance reports for management and regulatory bodies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management, or a related field
- At least 4 years’ hands-on experience in quality assurance within the food processing sector
- Certification in ISO 22000, HACCP, or other food safety management systems is highly desirable
- Knowledge of MBS and Malawi’s food safety regulatory requirements
Key Skills
- Strong leadership in quality systems implementation and audits
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to train and motivate QA staff
- Attention to detail and thorough understanding of food safety risk management
