About the Company
Bholato Foods Limited is a maize flour production company based in Lilongwe, committed to quality, food safety, and compliance with the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS). We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented QC Lab Technician to support our quality assurance operations.
Position Overview
The QC Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting routine laboratory tests on raw materials and finished flour to ensure products meet internal and regulatory standards. The role requires technical accuracy, documentation discipline, and familiarity with MBS and food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily laboratory testing on raw maize, in-process samples, and final flour products
- Analyze and document test results in line with MBS specifications and internal SOPs
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain lab equipment regularly to ensure accurate readings
- Support traceability and recall systems by properly labeling and archiving test data
- Report deviations or non-conforming results to the Quality Assurance Manager immediately
- Assist in internal audits and regulatory inspections as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
- Minimum of 2 years’ laboratory experience in a food production or processing environment
- Familiarity with microbiological, physical, and chemical testing procedures for flour or grains
Key Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to laboratory accuracy
- Good record-keeping and data interpretation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet testing deadlines
- Understanding of MBS food safety standards and basic HACCP principles
