Medical Waste Disposal Project Manager

Mitch Investments are inviting applications for a Medical Waste Disposal Project Manager to lead a project seeking to establish a medical waste disposal plant in Lilongwe, Malawi. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a medical waste collection and disposal facility based in Lilongwe.

Responsibilities

The Medical Waste Disposal Project Manager will:

  • Be responsible for the overall management of the Project.
  • Conduct training and orientation of project staff involved in Medical Waste Disposal.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of site equipment.
  • Conduct recurring safety/compliance meetings, accident investigations and subsequent re-training.
  • Monitor and control the collection and disposal of medical waste from medical facilities for disposal at the site.
  • Supervise the transportation of waste to ensure that it takes place efficiently without contaminating air, land or water sources.
  • Supervise the disposal of medical waste at the site ensuring staff adherence to all health and safety protocols and compliance with environmental policies.
  • Formulate and control budgets for waste disposal.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports.
  • Communicate and interface effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, customers and regulators.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications

The candidate should have:

  • A degree in Environmental Health or related field.
  • Experience managing or handling medical waste.
  • Technical and administrative abilities such as project management, report writing and budgeting.
  • At least  three (3) years’ experience in project management funded by an international donor.
