Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.
MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.
MACRO invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions for MACRO Private Clinic in Blantyre.
Job Title: Lab Assistant
Reports to: Clinic in Charge
Location: Blantyre (Chirimba)
About the Role: The Lab Assistant will be responsible for coordinating and performing tasks and activities in several areas of the clinical laboratory.
Education Qualifications
- Malawi School Certificate of Education
- Certificate in Biomedical Science/Clinical Laboratory
- 2 years’ hands-on experience in a similar job
- Knowledge of will be an added advantage
- Registered with medical council of Malawi
Knowledge and Skills
- Planning and Organizational Skills (organises own day to day work tasks, prioritize urgent specimens)
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
- Use of various laboratory equipment
- Computer Literate
Key Duties
- Receive and prepare patient specimens (mainly blood and urine) for analysis
- To perform basic clinical technical services, routine diagnostic test samples for lab support work
- To keep the laboratory equipment tidy and in a good state
- To comply with laboratory policies in relation to medical council regulations, Health and
- Safety, Welfare, Fire, Security and Confidentiality
- To assist in stock control and ordering of supplies
